Every cook has that one recipe - that's not really a recipe. You use it when you want something easy, familiar, and a sure fire hit. Your kids want you to write it down, which you think is ridiculous.

As usual, this recipe is dependent on the quality of the ingredients. A source for good Italian sausage and bread is a must anyway - don't you think? I really like the sausage at the Wedge, Ready Meats in N.E., and (of course) Delmonicos (also in N.E.).
