I decided not to blog on weekends - so now I'm blogging on the weekend. I have a good reason though, my niece and I are in the paper this morning. We were lucky enough to attend (thanks to Women Who Really Cook- local networking organization for ladies in the food biz) a screening of Julie and Julia.
I read Julie and Julia shortly after it came out. I didn't know what a blog was, and I certainly didn't know that one day I'd have one of them. I'm sure, like every food lover in America, I'm watching Julia on You-tube and trying to master the cuit oeuf. To be honest, Julia had an interesting enough life to warrant a movie - sans Julie. Alright, I'd feel better about it if Julia Child herself would have been happy about the Julie/Julia project - which she wasn't. However, I'm thrilled to be revisiting a culinary influence (although I don't do a lot with bone marrow or aspic) and a part of my childhood. It makes me think of the Galloping and Frugal Gourmets as well, and the beginnings of my (and not mine alone) addiction to watching other people cook.
Thanks to Sue Zelickson for helping to organize the event and to Sara Glassman for the pic of Amy and I.
