It's easy to strike out when it comes to ordering in. Your Chinese place can throw you a nasty MSG curveball. And the kitchen-challenged (or renovation weary or recently relocated) can't live on pizza alone.

Let Laura Bonicelli be your personal chef. Her new food delivery service, Solo by Bonicelli, launches this week. Here's the deal: You place your order by Thursday night (as in tomorrow) and then you get three, five or seven days of fresh, straight from the farmer's market meals and snacks brought to your door.

Bonicelli's beautiful website has mouth-watering photos, thanks to her experience as a food stylist for photo shoots. When the food arrives in sou vide bags ("Top Chef," anyone?), you boil them and then plate the meal, following the expert tips. If you do go out for a lunch, much of the food can be frozen.

Bonicelli, a world traveler, clearly puts a lot of passion into her cooking. Her blog even suggests wine pairings. We've sampled some of the gourmet offerings, including prosciutto-wrapped shrimp, the most delicious mushroom polenta we've ever had, tender braised beef short ribs and fresh granola loaded with fruit and nuts. You can see a sample menu, but each week's selections will be dependent on the freshest ingredients.

While the calorie count is not specifically designed for weight loss, it is portion controlled and undoubtedly better than that large pizza.

Solo Bonicelli is a fabulous food experience. I can hardly wait to get my new order and see the delicious food for the next couple of days as well as the treats from Solo Bonicelli. It is like opening a birthday gift or Christmas stocking.
The food is a fresh and healthy indulgence - of tremendous value for me. I save time in food preparation and shopping and there is no waste. It takes minutes to have wonderful and healthy meals. I would never have the quality or variety on my own. Laura Bonicelli is a genius in the kitchen.
I trust that whatever Solo Bonicelli delivers will be made out of the freshest, seasonal ingredients with recipes held to a high standard. I thought Solo Bonicelli would be great for really busy times in my life. I was wrong. It is great ALL of the time.
